About xfce4-notes and xfce4-notes-plugin

Hi Again,
I want to go straight to the point. I accidentally deleted the groups (six different groups) that I create with the xfce4-notes or xfce4-notes-plugin (I do not know what is the difference between both them, If there is...)(If it is important, I always opened the notes session from the panel shortcut). As a result;

1. Is there any possibility to recover mine deleted groups and notes?
2. If first question's answer is "yes", than How???

Thanks for all contributors. cool

system info
debian 10 (Buster)
xfce4-session 4.12.1 (Xfce 4.12)
xfce4-notes 1.8.1
xfce4-notes-plugin 1.8.1

Re: About xfce4-notes and xfce4-notes-plugin

There are no automatic backups (see bug #8268).

Per the documentation, the notes are saved under $XDG_DATA_HOME/notes/ — $XDG_DATA_HOME is an environment variable defined by the XDG base directory specification and defaults to $HOME/.local/share.

Good luck!

Firstly thanks for the reply. I have been read the document before, too. But I could not find the "XDG_DATA_HOME and .local" directories with Thunar. Is there any way to find them?

Re: About xfce4-notes and xfce4-notes-plugin

Ah, sorry!

Directories (and other files) beginning with a dot are hidden by default, see https://www.lostsaloon.com/technology/h … -in-linux/

In Thunar, you can toggle show/hide hidden files and directories with Ctrl+H or via menu Show > Show hidden files.

So, assuming your home dir is /home/detay, you should turn "Show hidden files" on Thunar, then move to /home/detay/.local/share/notes, and see if your notes are there (I'm afraid they won't).

You are right. All my old notes are gone. sad

Than how can I set an automatic backup option, at least for later.
