I just saw this on the weather plugin for the panel (copied and pasted):
Met.no LocationforecastLTS API states that this version
of the webservice is deprecated, and the plugin needs to be
adapted to use a newer version, or it will stop working within
a few months.
Please file a bug on https://bugzilla.xfce.org if no one
else has done so yet.
The panel plugin died a couple years ago when the service that it depended on became unavailable. Hopefully this time it can be fixed in time to ensure continuous service.

It's now September 10, 2020 and it just died again - no data available. I quickly discovered that the version I had installed on Xubuntu 18.04 was 0.8.9, and 0.8.10 was the latest version in the repositories, so I installed it, but the new version still can't find the data. Suggestions?

After much searching I found 0.10.0, but it appears to be available only as an archive file here:
https://docs.xfce.org/panel-plugins/xfc … her-plugin
<Sorry, I tried putting around the above, but all I can get is an error message that it can't find >
I extracted it, which created a folder containing numerous files, including a text file INSTALL. I found the INSTALL file incomprehensible, so instead I tried a file install.sh in the terminal. It failed with 'E: Unable to locate package libxfce4ui-2.' To solve that problem I tried 'sudo apt-get install libxfce4ui-2,' but the file could not be found.
I could use some help.

I found 0.10.0 as a .deb file and downloaded it, but install fails with 'dependency is not satisfiable libxfce4panel-2.0-4 (>=4.13.0).'

That version of the weather plugin is dependent on the GTK3 version of xfce4-panel (4.13 or greater). Xubuntu 18.04 uses version 4.12.x.

Yeah, I sort of guessed that when I saw '4.13.'
Well, it took me several days to get my UHD monitor working in 4.12, and I was told then that it would have been easier in 4.14, but I'm not anxious to go through that again. Someday I'm going to have to upgrade to Xubuntu 20.04, but I'm avoiding it. The weather plugin is not worth it. I'm off to find a different weather utility, hopefully one that isn't hard coded to a service that quits working every few months.
Thanks for your message.
