How to make desktop shortcut to hidden folder

Hi,

I'd like to make a desktop shortcut for a hidden folder.

to proceeed i use the file manager, i go to the designer folder (using ctrl + h to unhide stuff), then i right-clic on the folder and use "create desktop shortcut"

But when i clic on the desktop shortcut it does not open the folder but /home/user/Desktop/foldername  instead of /.hiddenpath/foldername

When i right clic : property on the shortcut it show :

Type : proper path
Target link: properpath
Emplacement : /home/user/Desktop

Any tips to make it work ?

Which version of Xfce?

xfce4-about -V

Which version of xfdesktop and is it running?

xfdesktop -V
ps -ef | grep xfdesktop

If you use the following command line entry:

ln -s /path/to/the/hidden/folder ~/Desktop

...does it work?

version is 4.12.1
Desktop version is 4.12.4, compilated with GTK+ 2.24.32

I made new test and i'm not 100% sure but it look like the short cut put me in the proper directory BUT the path displayed in the file manager is wrong (show /user/Desktop/shortcutname)

I'm sorry my question is probably super stupid but i'm not used to linux i am trying to learn. I was doubtfully because the shortcut showed an empty folder (and i was expecting something to be in) but looks like the original was empty too and files are properly displayed in both.

I'm sorry my question is probably super stupid but i'm not used to linux i am trying to learn.

Actually... It was a very good question and looking into it helped me to learn some new things- as well as a fix to an issue I was trying to solve.
The next time you feel like you're stupid- please come back and post it so I can get smarter.
