Hello,
I am having a graphical problem with the display of context menus in Thunar with text files. The menus are flashing. I can still use them without major problems, though.
From what I have already realized, this happens with odt, pdf, srt and other files that contain any text. And it happens mainly after I unzip some files using Engrampa 1.22.1. If I restart or log out, the error goes away.
I'm using Xubuntu 19.10, with the Zukitre theme. But apparently this happens with any other theme. The version of Thunar is 1.8.9. And my video card is NVIDIA GeForce GT 710 with the proprietary driver 430, but the error also happens with the 435.
I recorded a video with the error and it is poorly edited, but I don't know how to put it here.

Host the file somewhere and post the link to the file.
This might be a good candidate for a bug report, to be honest.

Sorry if I bump it now ...
I had the same "flashing" or "menu order changes" in my context menu.
It happens when the content in the current folder is "changing". So eg I had open MKVToolNix (GUI) which wrote an mkv file in which Thunar currently was. So "filesize" changed ... and the folder view needs to be "refreshed".
Same happens when eg tumblerd creates thumbnails in the current folder.
Next to "open with" this is also visible when opening the sub menu "send to" ... it gets renewed on each change in the current file view.
bye
Ron

Probably best to create a bug report.
