[SOLVED]xfce4 startup screen on opensuse tumbleweed

One morning I started my laptop and booted into opensuse tumbleweed, which I use daily.
Every time I try to start xfce, I get this screen.
The problem doesn't exist with any other de or window manager/etc. I created a new user and the same screen appears.
I've tried deleting every xfce4 directory and file in my user directory, but the screen remains.

One weird thing I've noticed, is that when I hit the keys ctrl, alt, and backspace, for a brief second, the screen turns normal as I move to a console screen.
This has been ongoing for about 3 weeks now. Right now, I'm using cinnamon till I can get the xfce program fixed.

Sure appreciate help solving this. I'm missing my xfce!

ToZ, thanks!
this is the command that worked for me:
xfconf-query -c xfwm4 -p /general/vblank_mode -t string -s "off" --create

Now to configure my settings again smile
