Thanks Xfce Team from Canada

A few minutes ago I installed Xfce for the 1st time on a bare bones installation of an Arch fork (Artix Linux + runit). Xfce looks incredible when it is the first DE. Totally different from the 5 years I'd been using Xfce. Why? Because all the distros that I've ever used never came with Xfce as the native DE, but with something else which I'd have to uninstall and then install Xfce. Naturally doing that kind of transplant, your results vary. But honestly I kept Xfce'ing over and over, because even variable quality Xfce is preferable to the majority of the DEs out there. But I never saw Xfce in it's original intended state until I did this install from scratch. The fonts, the colours, everything flowing together. Perfection!

Interesting that you say that - most people complain that the default look is dated and ugly. I kind of like it as well.

For some reason Xfce meshes with my personality I guess. Not that I consider the other DEs that are more popular or modern-looking to be less-than-functional (though they are sometimes are). I prefer DEs that are simple. I just like simple.

I agree completely. I have been an XFCE user for many years. In most cases if you use a distros implementation it's likely not set up how you are going to use it. I like starting fresh and appreciate the defaults set up by the XFCE team. It's endless from there.

Also most people do not have an aesthetic criterion, they find beautiful what is in fashion at this moment... tongue
