Thunar background image?

Is it possible to add an image to thunar's main panel's background. From searching around I see it looks like I can change the background colour but I'm not seeing anything about an image. I don't need to remove/replace the background but if I could add an image on top would be great.

I'm not a css or programmer guy so I usually need to dig for these sorts of things.

Re: Thunar background image?

Do you mean something like this? If so, there is code in that thread demonstrating how it can be done.

Re: Thunar background image?

OK, my stupid is showing. I tried to add it to gtk rc file but no change. Do you need to edit the theme itself?

Re: Thunar background image?

It should actually go into ~/.config/gtk-3.0/gtk.css (assuming you are running the gtk3 version of thunar). To test, kill the thunar daemon ("thunar -q") then start it up again. Also, the image needs to reside in ~/.config/gtk-3.0.

Re: Thunar background image?

Ah! I logged out/in but I guess that's not enough. I kill  it and then restart it and now I have the image in the main pane but also stacked up i the left pane?? I will need to isolate it.

Edit: Never mind, I got it. Look at the whole file not just what your doing!!! Once again, my stupid showing.

Re: Thunar background image?

No worries. CSS really is useful - so much more that you can do with theming, but there is a whole new learning curve there. Glad you got it working.
