How to control when screen is off on XFCE

I have arch linux with default xfce installation
xfce4 + xfce4-goodies

so there is xfce4-screensaver

I have xfce4-power-manager.
It's set to turn off screen after 2 minutes when AC is unplugged but it's turning off after different time, so I believe that something more.

It doesn't matter what I set up in xfce4-power-manager the screen timeout is about 4 or 5 minutes
dim after selected time doesn't work too.

I've tried to install light-locker following this instructions:
Lock the screen
but nothing has changed.

My xset -q output is:

Keyboard Control:
auto repeat: on key click percent: 0 LED mask: 00000000
  XKB indicators:
00: Caps Lock: off 01: Num Lock: off 02: Scroll Lock: off

                        fff7ffffffffffff

Screen Saver:

DPMS (Energy Star):
  Standby: 600 Suspend: 0 Off: 900
  DPMS is Enabled
  Monitor is On

xset -dpms didn't help

Re: How to control when screen is off on XFCE

You may have xfce4-screensaver and xfce4-power-manager conflicting in timing. You can have either blank the screen at a given time.

Re: How to control when screen is off on XFCE

But after removing xfce4-screensaver there was no difference.
I've tried to remove xfce4-screensaver and then install light-locker and that didn't help

Re: How to control when screen is off on XFCE

With the screensaver disabled, set the screen blank time to 1 minute. Then start the xfce4-power-manager in debug mode:

xfce4-power-manager -q
xfce4-power-manager --no-daemon --debug

...and post back the output after the one minute has passed.

Re: How to control when screen is off on XFCE

Ok I tried for the second time to remove xfce4-screensaver and install light-locker.
It seems that it's working. I'm not sure what's changed.

And there is debug output (there are some warnings and errors)

Re: How to control when screen is off on XFCE

It would be interesting to see why its not working with xfce4-screensaver. Can you repeat the process but this time with xfce4-screensaver installed and running and post back the output?

Not a big problem but what should I put here instead "light-locker-command --lock"

xfconf-query -c xfce4-session -p /general/LockCommand -s "light-locker-command --lock" --create -t string

should it be:

xfconf-query -c xfce4-session -p /general/LockCommand -s "xfce-4screensaver-command --lock" --create -t string

I don't have backup ofxfce4-session.xml and I'm not sure how it looked before light-locker installation

Re: How to control when screen is off on XFCE

Try with:

xfconf-query -c xfce4-session -p /general/LockCommand -s "xfce4-screensaver-command --lock"

...no need to re-create if already created.

Make sure light-locker is not running and xfce4-screensaver is.

Re: How to control when screen is off on XFCE

I thought that everything is ok but is not.
Screen should blank after 60s but it wasn't after 120.

Screen dimming is working. I had to set it to dim to much darker level but it's working (doesn't matter xfce4-screensaver or light-locker)

p.s.
My screen is dimmed when I watch youtube. Not the case with celluloid and movies from disk. Is there an option or something to make it work? (make it work for me is not dimmed screen when watching yt)
