icon that does not appear in xfce4 with a new theme

Hello,

I use xfce4 version 4.12 under Cygwinx (Server X).

I downloaded "Le Capitaine" icon theme and tried to install it in xfce by unpacking it and placing it in "usr/share/icons".

The new theme appears well in the icon customization panel but when I apply the theme "Captain, all icons, not appearing . Would you know how to remedy that, please?

I tried to get this comand, but it doesn’t change anything:(

gtk-update-icon-cache --force /usr/share/icons/mytheme

Thank you in advance.

Re: icon that does not appear in xfce4 with a new theme

Hello and welcome.

I'm not able to access the image links as it requires a google login to view. Can you place them somewhere that doesn't require authentication to view?

As for the icon issue, if an icon theme is missing some icons, it's best to follow up with the icon theme with a bug report to ensure they are added. If you can identify the programs that are missing icons, you can look at manually adding them in as well.

Re: icon that does not appear in xfce4 with a new theme

Hello,

Here is a new Mega link:

https://mega.nz/folder/PWYAzIQB#2eiZPrKRjx84IhwWaGXrFg

However, the icons are complete on a "real linux" but it comes from my computer and I can’t understand...

Could you give me a procedure, please?

Is it possible to replace icons directly in the theme folder please ?

Where did you get it from? This is the official site.

If you try another icon theme, do the icons work?

It would appear that you have two types of "missing" icons in those images.

  1. blank icons - the icon is probably the same colour as the background. If you hover over it, does it appear?

  2. missing "X" icons - these are missing from the icon theme itself.

The best way to deal with this is to either use an icon theme that includes all of the necessary icons (and/or the proper colour combinations), or contact the developer of the la-capitaine theme and file bug reports there.

To manually change the icon that is being used, you can either edit the system-wide desktop file located at /usr/share/applications (or create a copy of it in ~/.local/share/applications) and change the "Icon=" line to use another icon from your icon theme or directly specify an icon. For example, to change the xfce4-appfinder (Lancer le programme):

mkdir -p ~/.local/share/applications
cp /usr/share/applications/xfce4-appfinder.desktop ~/.local/share/applications

...then edit the ~/.local/share/applications/xfce4-appfinder.desktop file and change the "Icon=" line to read (as an example):

Icon=app-launcher

I download theme to  test (https://github.com/keeferrourke/la-capitaine-icon-theme), than unzip it under ~/home/.icons . Xfce settings find theme without problems! Test done by Slackware  14.2.
