Changed the monitor for a bigger one can't use the entire screen

My fathers computer, uses Xubuntu 20.04 and recently changed his monitor for a bigger one, but XFCE isn't configured to fill the entire screen horizontally.

Re: Changed the monitor for a bigger one can't use the entire screen

So open the display preferences and set it to the correct resolution? This isn't really a question but reads like no one is really tech literate in the situation. Click the mouse "start" button look for settings then displays and choose the correct resolution/DPI.

If you want you can run the display settings directly from a terminal with xfce4-display-settings.

Re: Changed the monitor for a bigger one can't use the entire screen

What is the make and model of the monitor?
How is it connected to the computer (VGA, HDMI, DP)?
What does the following return:

xrandr -q

xrandr --addmode VGA 1920x1080_60.00

Works?

An Aquos? If so, here is an interesting article. You probably need to connect via HDMI to get the full resolution.

Wow ToZ, good catch! Luckily, a DVI to HDMI cable is inexpensive (about 10$) and usually works well.
