hi everybody,
I would like to ask for help with a weird problem.
I am running debian buster based debian distribution with xfce version 4.12.2.
The bottom panel does not adjust to bottom of the desktop, but hangs above it
and hides the programs behind it.
Furthermore the programs which are running do not show up on the bar
and can only be brought to the foreground via ALT-tab.
I tried to reinstall xfce-desktop on my machine, but it did not change this
strang phenomena.
Any hint/advise would be much appreciated

Hello and welcome.

and hides the programs behind it.
If you right-click the panel and select Panel > Panel Preferences, and uncheck the "Lock Panel" dialog, handles will appear at either end of the panel. Click and drag those handles to position the panel to the bottom of the screen. Check the box again to hide the handles.
Furthermore the programs which are running do not show up on the bar
and can only be brought to the foreground via ALT-tab.
Add the "Windows Buttons" plugin to the panel.
Documentation about the panel can be found here.

thx for the quick reply, was trying to find a solution for the problem for a long time, but never saw there was a handle to move the
panel. :-(
please excuse my ignorance, but the above wiki states, that the "Windows-Button"-plugin is an internal plugin,
how do I activate it or do I have to install it (did not find it, when using a search engine)
thx in advance

Hi pitfd,
Right click on the panel and select Panel > Add New Items... then click on Window Buttons there, and finish by clicking on Add.
