Two possible improvements for Thunar?

I am using Debian Buster with Xfce and Thunar 1.8.4. I am happy with Xfce and with Thunar, to which I added some Custom actions. The only two features I miss are:
1) as in Caja and other file managers, it would be convenient to always find the free space left for the current partition in the bottom line, without having to click the Device name or to right click a directory name then Properties.
2) in the Size column for a directory, I'd like to see the number of files and directories contained in it (possibly recursive), rather than the space occupied  by the directory itself. I know it would be a bit slow to display the size of the dir. contents, but it would be much quicker to calculate the number of files and directories.

These options might be available in the Preferences menu. Thanks for reading
