Hi - I'm on Arch and just performed an update and now my external monitor is not recognized on the HDMI port.
I tried rolling back XFCE-settings and XFCE4-Power-manager (is it was a big jump 1.6 > 4.16), but no good.
I looked at xandr before and after connecting the HDMI cable and it's the same in both cases:

I looked at display setting editor and HDMI shows active my external monitor is listed.
I've tried restarting with and without the HDMI cable connected, no difference.

Xrandr isn't even recognizing your hdmi, and Xfce uses libxrandr. Maybe try another hdmi cable?

Hi ToZ - the cable's new and works with other laptops. My HDMI was working through the update and then I re-started my laptop after the update for good measure. No good deed...
Also, I tried booting the LTS kernel, but still NG.
Also, reinstalled libxrandr, still NG.

OK, not sure what happened...
I was attempting to boot from a live USB to verify my HDMI port still worked with another OS. I never got it to boot to the USB, but when I let my laptop boot into Arch, HDMI is working again.
I like the new Display configuration panel. Nice that it has custom scaling. Only thing is, the Advanced tab does not show my old profiles. If I try to save a new profile with the same old name, it says that profile already exists, but it doesn't show. So I modified the name of the old profile in:
/home/gotit/.config/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/displays.xml
I could then name my new profile with the same old name (Extend Top) after a restart.
So, I guess this thread can be marked "Resolved" but not "Solved".
