Thunar crash - 64-bit running as root

I am building Xfce-4.16 add-ons for the versions of Puppy Linux based on Slackware Current - ScPup32 & ScPup64.

I have successfully built a 32-bit add-on for ScPup32 where Thunar works with no problems - see:
https://forum.puppylinux.com/viewtopic.php?f=122&t=1903

However I do have a problem with Thunar in the ScPup64 64-bit add-on (built in the same way as the 32-bit version, both with Slackware Current Xfce components).

As is usual for Puppy Linux, the session is running as "root" - Thunar starts normally but after a seemingly random number of directory openings Thunar crashes and closes.

dmesg gives no error reports.
ldd shows all dependencies are satisfied.
there is a report in /tmp/xerrs.log:
"corrupted size vs. prev_size" but no indication where this is coming from.

Is there any way to get error reports out of Thunar to show why it is crashing?

Searching the web does not bring up any clues - nearest found is:
https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?t=311212

In both 32 & 64-bit builds Thunar is set to "single click" operation.

Grateful for any ideas / help / assistance.
Thanks

Re: Thunar crash - 64-bit running as root

Hello and welcome.

First, build thunar with debugging enabled at full. Then run it through gdb to get a backtrace. This will pinpoint the error. Most likely create a bug report then.

Thunar 4.17.0 was just recently released, you might want to give it a try as well.
