I love the GenMon plugin because it creates a connection between the CLI and the GUI so people living in the terminal can also use their knowledge to make the desktop environment better fit to their workflow. It would be interesting if markup allowed you to add additional buttons, inputs and other elements, but this would no longer fit into the KISS principle, AwesomeWM is more suitable for solutions at this level.
