Strange tray icon change after the notification

I am using the xfce4 4.16.
There is Qt app named qv2ray. Every time I click the button the tray icon will change. I opened an issue under the qv2ray github issue page. They say it is something with my Desktop Environment. But I don't know how to debug it.

The right icon:

It looks like we're waiting for a fix.
