Open in text editor from share

I recently update to Ubuntu minimal 20.04 and now I'm having a problem with Thunar.

If I right mouse click a local text file and choose to open with Geany, it opens the text file as expected.
If I right mouse click a text file in a share and choose to open with Geany, it results in an empty Geany.

I've tried reinstalling Thunar and Googled around a bit but can't seem to solve this.

Any ideas?

Is gvfs-fuse installed? I believe its required to support this.

Re: Open in text editor from share

If you upgraded there is a change in the underlying fuse. Upgrade from fuse to fuse3.

Depending on what you are accessing there is also a smb defaults change.

This happened in Debian, I don't follow Ubuntu, so...
