Changing background colour of workspace switcher using buttons

I am unable to change the background colour of the workspace switcher, I have tried both #pager-1 and wnck-pager (that's for miniature view afaik). Unsure what I am doing wrong here. Maybe there is another way?

Is your pager ID really #pager-1?

$ xfconf-query -c xfce4-panel -lv | grep pager
/plugins/plugin-4                            pager

On my system, it's #pager-4.
