I am using the Adwaita-dark Style (Settings->Appearance from the Applications menu) and Daloa Style (Settings->Window Manager from the applications menu).
My issue is that when I right click on the title bar of a window, the context menu that appears is of a completely different color than the rest of the theme (very light gray vs dark gray for all other windows), and no highlighting appears over the item I am currently moused over. No other context menu in my environment seems to have this issue, as normally the currently moused-over item in a context menu is highlighted in blue. My questions are:
1. How do I specify a color for the actively highlighted item of the context menu that appears when I right click on a window's title bar?
2. How do I change the background (and possibly text) color of the context menu that appears when I right click on a window's title bar?
My understanding is that I can create a ~/.gtkrc-2.0 file that contains overrides for whatever theme/style I'm using, but what overrides do I need to fix the above 2 issues?

Bump - does anyone know how to change this?

It should use the same colours as the rest of the theme.
Do all titlebars exhibit the same issue or just one/some? (maybe CSD issue)
Are you running any of these applications as root? (different configuration files will be used)
If you change both the appearance and the window manager theme, does the issue persist?
How (and from where) did you install the Adwaita-dark theme? (does it have a gtk-2.0 component)
Can you post back:
ls -l /usr/share/themes/Adwaita-dark
Can you also post a screenshot demonstrating the issue?

It's all of them as far as I can tell.

No, I don't have root on this machine.

No. If for example I use Greybird-dark for both the appearance and window manager theme, the highlighting appears as expected.
How (and from where) did you install the Adwaita-dark theme? (does it have a gtk-2.0 component)
It was installed by default (note: I don't own this machine).
Can you post back:
ls -l /usr/share/themes/Adwaita-dark
> ls -l /usr/share/themes/Adwaita-dark/
total 4
drwxr-xr-x. 3 root root 100 Apr 27 2020 gtk-2.0
drwxr-xr-x. 2 root root 21 Apr 27 2020 gtk-3.0
-rw-r--r--. 1 root root 2965 Jul 26 2018 index.theme
Can you also post a screenshot demonstrating the issue?
Unfortunately not due to the fact that I don't own this machine. If I right click a title bar, the context menu with the options "Maximize", "Minimize", "Minimize All Other Windows", etc. appears, but the item underneath my mouse cursor is not highlighted (or at least not when I'm using the Adwaita-dark Appearance and Daloa theme.

Is there any content in ~/.gtkrc-2.0? If so, can you post?
Also, which distro are you using? And if I call correctly, you are connecting through VNC, right?

That file doesn't exist.
