Sorting columns in thunar

Hi,

Is it possible to set as a default in thunar that items be sorted by a specific column, e.g. name-ascending?.

I know that clicking on the column heading sorts entries but this needs to be repeated for each new folder.

Thanks

You mean something like this There could never be enough red arrows in a picture. There's always room for more.

Thanks.

On my side view->arrange items doesn't exist. Which version are you on? or is that a plug-in?.

Cheers

so what version are you on? thunar veresion.

It's a long stretch but do this. i want you to tell me if gvfs is working. WTF is gvfs? Glad you asked. I don't know what it is. See if you have this. I had an error under the volume managment optoin saying gvfs is not enabled. Onece I installed a package called gvfs, things started working. I should probally close the url tag now... BUT HEY look the pretty blue colour text am i right or am i right. unless you hover over it then it's red. like cold blood.

also look at this maybe you'll find something here... In case you have't looked here before see if anything there like a plugin or something helps.

Your welcome but did it work? Were you able to find a fix or not?

Re: Sorting columns in thunar

I was also trying to achieve something like this, but was not able to find the option that desipher mentioned (I'm using 4.16).

However I was able to achieve it using the Settings Editor. Under the 'thunar' channel, look for the property 'last-sort-column'. I used the value 'THUNAR_COLUMN_NAME' to default sorting by name.

Then just close all your Thunar windows and verify that the setting was applied.
