Xfce Network Manager not working

I have recently installed Xubuntu 20.04LTS
clive: ~$ inxi -S
System:    Host: clive-HP-EliteBook-6930p Kernel: 5.8.0-55-generic x86_64 bits: 64 Desktop: Xfce 4.14.2
Distro: Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS (Focal Fossa)

I installed panel plugin Network Monitor and put wlan0 as network device but get error
Xfce4-Netload-Plugin: Error in initialising
Interface was not found

clive: ~$ inxi -xx -N
Network:   Device-1: Intel 82567LM Gigabit Network vendor: Hewlett-Packard driver: e1000e v: 3.2.6-k port: xxxx
bus ID: 00:19.0 chip ID: 8086:10f5
Device-2: Intel PRO/Wireless 5100 AGN [Shiloh] Network driver: iwlwifi v: kernel port: xxxx
bus ID: 02:00.0 chip ID: 8086:4237
I have deleted port ID with xxxx. Wireless is used not wired interface.

Any suggestions as to how to setup the monitor would be welcome.

Re: Xfce Network Manager not working

Hello and welcome.

Is wlan0 your interface name? What does the following command return:

ip link show

    link/loopback 00:00:00:00:00:00 brd 00:00:00:00:00:00
2: enp0s25: <NO-CARRIER,BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP> mtu 1500 qdisc fq_codel state DOWN mode DEFAULT group default qlen 1000
    link/ether 00:xx:xx:xx:60:9c brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff

Just initialised network monitor with wls1 and its working. I must look up ip command. Problem solved, many thanks.
