I want to use my own selection of screen locking software on Debian 11 (Bullseye) + XFCE 4.16 instead of the default lightdm (triggered by light-locker) light-locker. I managed to do that by putting my selected screen locker at the top of the list in /usr/bin/xflock4, but this resulted in a double screen lock: first I need to unlock it through my selected package, then I get a screen for 5 seconds that says "This session is locked. You'll be redirected to the unlock dialog automatically in a few seconds", and then I need to pass the lightdm light-locker lock screen.
I managed to resolve this for when the screen is just locked via a shortcut but the computer keeps running (I had to uninstall light-locker for that). but when I return from Suspend of Hibernation, I still get the double lock screen. (and when the screensaver locks the screen, get only lightdm light-locker).
how can I reduce it to one screen locker (my selected one) in all scenarios?

looks like I managed to get light-locker out of the way. first I tried to uninstall it through apt but it somehow remains installed even after that (!). I had to disable the autostart entry. now there is only one screen locker, the one I want to use.
however there is another issue now: when the machine returns form Suspend or Hibernation, the desktop environment is visible for a few seconds (the screen locker doesn't appear instantly to cover the screen). what should I do to make it appear as soon as the machine wakes up?

Which screensaver are you using? Does it have a fade out option when being activated that might be interfering?
