Panel icon broken after upgrade from Mint 19.1 to 19.2

When I upgraded from Linux Mint 19.1 to Linux Mint 19.2 the panel icon for the Synology Drive desktop client changed from the Synology Drive Client icon to a blue circle with a little white "i".  I have attached screenshots of what it looks like now and what it is supposed to look like.  Additional information will be provided upon request and I thank everyone for their time and any assistance in resolving this will be greatly appreciated.  The desired icon animates in that it shows the icon with a green checkmark when syncing is complete and an icon with a blue circular arrows when it is syncing if this helps.

Hello and welcome.

Can you confirm which version of Xfce you are running and more specifically, the version of xfce4-panel? I think you may be seeing this bug.

This question will show you that I am an expert.  How do I find out the version of xfce4-panel?  Thank you for your help.

Re: Panel icon broken after upgrade from Mint 19.1 to 19.2

Is there a work around?  Are you aware of whether a fix is likely to come soon?  Is this bug specific to Xfce, so it would affect Mate or Cinnamon?  ToZ, sorry to blitz you with questions you may not know the answers to and I do appreciate your time and help.

Re: Panel icon broken after upgrade from Mint 19.1 to 19.2

No worries.

Which plugin are you using on the panel to show the tray icons? Right-click the panel and select Panel > Panel Preferences and look at the items tab. Your choices will be something like Status Tray Plugin, Notification Area, Indicator Plugin. Feel free to post a pic of that page.

For the most part, it will need to fixed in the Status Tray plugin and there is no indication whether any work has begun. I am not familiar enough with Mate or Cinnamon to comment on it.

If you are using the Status Tray plugin, you can try removing it and adding in either the notification area and/or indicator plugins to see if it works better with those. (I'm not sure which are available in Mint 19.x as some have been recently deprecated/merged, but that might not necessarily affect the version you are using).

It is the Status Tray Plugin.

How would I remove it from Status Tray Plugin and add it to the notification area and/or indicator plugins?

Remove the Status Tray plugin from the panel and add one or both of the others. Then restart the panel ("xfce4-panel -r") and see if and how it works.

I did that, but how do I add the synology drive client to either the notification area or the indicator plugin?

Restart the synology client. It should show up if it will work.

Re: Panel icon broken after upgrade from Mint 19.1 to 19.2

I don't know why I said Linux Mint 19.1 to 19.2 when I meant to say 20.1 to 20.2.  Sorry about that.

In that case, the notification area has been merged into the Status Tray plugin so you no longer have that option. I think you need to wait for the bug to be fixed.

Thank you.  It seem that this bug was reported seven months ago or more.  Am I correct in that?
