I've recently tried to upgrade my machine from Ubuntu 18.04.5 to 20.04.3. I notice as soon as there is another XScreen everything dies. Things worked in 16.04 to 18.04...now it's borked. I also tested with 21.04 and the problem persists.
I feel this is more likely an XOrg or kernel change affecting things down the line but any input on how to figure out/fix this is appreciated.
Steps to reproduce, add a second XScreen (potentially requiring said XScreen to have screens attached to a second GPU)

it looks like a memory address used for function calling or similar got written over with 0 and got used in libc. that or some bad code apparently in libc is using pointers to hold function or jump addresses. it looks like something jumped/called to memory location 0. the cause of an overwrite of virtual memory could be almost anywhere. where do you see this output?

That was just the dmesg output on Xubuntu 20.04.3. On 21.04 xfwm4 doesn't crash in an endless loop along with everything else (after some updates) but if you run things on any XScreen outside 0.0 you can't set the theme/decorations/fonts etc. I've filed a bug for that too.
Seems like somewhere past Ubu 18.XX things got real weird. Same issues on some Arch distros too.
