xfwm4 constantly loses keyboard settings (4.16)

In 4.16 I'm noticing XFWM4 constantly loses keyboard settings for certain things. Every time I set Tile Window To The X things work...for a while. Then seemingly randomly I will go to use one of those and it won't work. If I go into the settings it's still shows as set correctly but will not work until I redefine it.

So for example
Tile window to the TOP > Super + Up
Tile window to the BOTTOM Super + Down
Tile window to the LEFT Super + Left
Tile window to the RIGHT Super + Right

It will work for a while until eventually one stops. When this happens I can say do up (works) left (works) down (works) right...nothing. Go back to xfwm4 settings, redefine it...it will work...for a while. Rinse Repeat.

Anything in ~/.xsession-errors (or the journal) when the shortcut stops working?

Tons -o- crap in there but nothing that looks to be related. Is there a specific term that might be good to search for? I just checked and again Super+Right isn't working. Super+Up isn't working on my other machine. Which is also to say this is happening on all the machines running 4.16.

When it stops working, try running:

xfsettigsd --replace

...in a terminal window to see if starts working again.

Also, what does:

localectl

...return.

Is there a specific term that might be good to search for?

Anything related to xfsettings of libxfce4ui or just shortcut-related.

command 'xfsettingsd' from deb xfce4-settings (4.16.0-1ubuntu1)

Most the stuff in the errors are from xfce4-power-manager xfce4-clipman thunar-volman xfce4-session (ICE connection rejected) xfce4-panel. Nothing from settings xfwm or about shortcuts or keys that I see.

Try re-starting xfsettingsd as noted above to see if it makes a difference.

Nothing changed so I got cray cray and killed the daemon. It was immediately autospawned and now Super left and down work, right and up don't heh.

xfsettingsd: Another instance took over. Leaving... in .xsession-errors

I have a feeling that it might be related to this bug report but the issue pattern is different. Perhaps you can create a new bug report and see what the triage team says. They can move/merge it if necessary.

Possible but my super works for everything else. So for example I use super + space for my launcher, it never fails. It also works for the other stuff just slowly "drops" the other keys in the bind over time.

Hi, I have a very similar issue, windows tiling for me is set to ALT + up, down, left, right… but only left and top keep working. Right and down just works a couple of minutes (I didn’t understand yet what makes it disappear yet).
Should I make a new post as this one seams a bit old?
