App Finder

Is it possible to get App Finder to search for and launch files as well as Applications.
It would be a useful addition.
I know there are other launchers that will do this.
I just thought it would be neat if the native App Finder could achieve this.

Re: App Finder

App Finder only works with .desktop files, so it won't be able to directly search for files. You can, however, create a custom action (Preference > Custom Actions) to automatically start another program like catfish to do the search and display the results. To do so, create a new Custom Action with the following:
- Type = Prefix
- Pattern = <select a key to use> ( I use ~)
- Command = catfish %S --start

Now in the appfinder, enter "~ searchstring" (where search string is the filename or part of a filename that you are looking for), press enter and catfish will start and display the result set.

Re: App Finder

Thanks ToZ, I will certainly give that a try.
