Lines spaced out in xfce4-terminal

This is how my terminal looks like. I am sure it isn't supposed to do that.

Greetings, and welcome to the forum!

Question: what font (type face & point size) have you set in your terminal's "Preferences"? I could be wrong, but by the look of it, this may be a bitmapped, possibly a "Courier" type face?
