Background location now showing

Using the xfdesktop-settings program I can set the directory for the desktop wallpaper. However, it does not display the location of the directory. For example, right now it is set the "backgrounds". I have to assume that this is "/usr/share/backgrounds", but no prefix is shown. Only when I go to other in the file picker do I see full path names.

Also, is it possible to include files from sub directories?

Yes, it only displays the tail end of the directory path.

Unfortunately no, not at this time.See https://gitlab.xfce.org/xfce/xfdesktop/-/issues/50.

Re: Background location now showing

Thanks. Seems like these issues aren't going to be updated anytime soon.
