Application Autostart Settings: What is the trigger for "on restart"?

It is possible to set an action in  "General Settings / Session and Startup / Application Autostart Settings".

One of the available triggers is "on restart".

My question is, wich event triggers this, will this activated when

-  the old session to be finished is closed

or

- when the new session to be opened will be started?

Unfortunately I cannot find a description here.

I think it will trigger the event after you click Restart button in Log out menu, so it's kind a same as on logout option. Shutdown option works the same, first session is logged out then shut down system (if you didn't change default settings).

Thank you for your message.

Now I understand better how it works.
