[SOLVED] Gnome icons instead of system themes' icons

Hello everybody,
this happens with a lot of themes: even if the theme folder contains all the necessary icons, in certain cases the system uses the gnome ones. This typically happens with the wifi icon, for example.

I downloaded this one, which actually contains all the wifi icons, but on my panel is displayed the gnome-theme one. How can I fix?

Re: [SOLVED] Gnome icons instead of system themes' icons

What are you using for your network manager? If its nm-applet, then it uses nm-signal-* icons. The theme you've linked seems to name them "nm-nm-signal-*". If nm-applet can't find the icon its looking for, it traverses up the "inherits" chain (see the icon theme's index.theme file for the inherits chain) until it finds the correct one.

Re: [SOLVED] Gnome icons instead of system themes' icons

Thank you ToZ! I found that the "nm-nm-signal-" files were interrupted links. I renamed them and now I got a red icon instead of the right one.

EDIT: I lately removed the symlinks and recreated them. Now the links work (in thunar I see the right icon instead of the broken link icon) but still I have the red one on the panel.

Re: [SOLVED] Gnome icons instead of system themes' icons

For this icon theme, you need to put the nm-signal-* icons in the status/24 folder, rebuild the icon cache, and re-start nm-applet. To rebuild the icon cache you would run "gtk-update-icon-cache DIR" where DIR is the root directory of the infinity icon theme.

Note: if you have a larger or smaller panel size, you may need to put them in one of the other status/XX folders.

Ok, I needed to upload the cache. I noticed that also the battery icon is affected, where do I find the correct filenames, so I can rename the interested files?
