Gray Screen while using google chrome

Hello, i am currently having an issue where when i am using chrome, the screen turns gray. The only way i have been able to get around this issue is to open up terminal then kill the google chrome process. After doing this i am able to see the background. Then I will relaunch chrome.  I have looked through the /var/syslog file and don't see anything. To be fair i am a linux noob so i might have overlooked something. Can anyone please point me in the right direction. I am currently running Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS.
