thunar side pane got fixed size

I use xfce4-4.16 now. I find that the thunar side pane got fixed size. the width can not be changed. Just half of a whole line can be seen.

I start a openbox session and find pcmanfm works fine. that's make me complain that the thunar is not as good as pcmanfm. But after I start pcmanfm in xfce4.16, I find the width of the side pane of pcmanfm is still fixed.  what wrong?

Re: thunar side pane got fixed size

You should be able to change the size of the sidebar by dragging the separator between the sidebar and the main view panels to the right. Does this not work?

Also try changing your Appearance theme. Does that make a difference?

Re: thunar side pane got fixed size

When the mouse move to the separator between the side pane and main window, mouse arrow should change to a small leftrightarrow. then, press left button will drag the separator. But this action is disabled.  I add two users to start xfce.  one users works, the other user and root user fails.

Re: thunar side pane got fixed size

Can you post back the results of the following command from both the user that works, and the user that doesn't:

xfconf-query -c thunar -lv

Also, for the user that does not work, go to Settings Manager > Appearance and change the style to another one (preferable Adwaita if it is listed there) and test again.

Change the style of the outlook has no effect for both users, no matter what style I choose.

the data of the two users are similar because I have copied all files in /home/rsj/.config/* to /home/ttt/.config  including .config/xfce4.

Can you post the contents of the ~/.config/gtk-3.0/gtk.css and ~/.config/gtk-3.0/settings.ini files?

Since ttt is not working, did you ensure that you changed the ownership of all those files over to ttt as well?

Re: thunar side pane got fixed size

@ToZ  thanks for your help.

After I remove shadow and linux-pam in blfs and recompile shadow in lfs and linux-pam in blfs, my mouse can drag the separator in thunar.
