please, can anyone help? i have the problem, that thunar don't creates thumbnails of svgz-files. I found out by accident that 'eye of the mate' generates thumbnail previews. which are then also displayed by 'thunar. is there any chance to fix this, so that thunar automatically generates thumbnails of that type?
System: Kernel: 5.4.0-97-generic x86_64 bits: 64 Desktop: Cinnamon 4.4.8 Distro: Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS (Focal Fossa)
thunar: Installed: 1.8.14-0ubuntu1
tumbler: Installed: 0.2.8-1
thread status changed: [SOLVED]

It is really fixed only in Tumbler 4.17.0.
With previous versions, you have to edit /etc/xdg/tumbler/tumbler.rc to give the "DesktopThumbnailer" a higher priority than the "PixbufThumbnailer" (hopefully this won't have too much of a side effect on the other thumbnails: it's not a perfect solution).
See https://docs.xfce.org/xfce/tumbler/avai … figuration
You also have to make sure that librsvg is installed, but I assume it is if a thumbnail for an .svgz file has been generated elsewhere.

@Tamaranch - wauh!... thank you very much indeed! it works!!!
i changed the priority for both, [PixbufThumbnailer] = 1 and [DesktopThumbnailer] = 2. i didn't know how to restart tumblerd, so i just rebooted my system. the priority for all other thumbnailers is set to 1 except for [JPEGThumbnailer] = 3 and the [FfmpegThumbnailer] = 2. what's the possible side effect i can get now? at the moment anything looks good here!
again, thanks a lot!

You can just kill it:
pkill tumblerd
should work, If it isn't too busy and in a normal state (pkill -9 otherwise).

The problem is that the DesktopThumbnailer is a generic or abstract plugin, which links to all files in /usr/share/thumbnailers. So by prioritizing it in /etc/xdg/tumbler/tumbler.rc, you are not only prioritizing it over the PixbufThumbnailer, but also over any plugin that handles the same mime types as one of the thumbnailers in /usr/share/thumbnailers.
So it may be that a plugin that was working fine is replaced by a thumbnailer in /usr/share/thumbnailers that doesn't work. Normally this should be fine I think, but basically it's not right.
This has also been completely revised in Tumbler 4.17.0, so that this problem no longer exists.
