Xfce-Terminal not rendering output with compton as compositor

Occasionally when executing a command or moving around files in Vim the xfce4-terminal will stop rendering the text and will just show the blurred transparent background. If I mouse over the terminal the text will render on the lines that the mouse passes over. Sometimes, as in the image below it seems to render the screen completely wrong with pieces of the expected output all over the place:

`compton --version` gives: `git-v0.1_beta2-99-g6e49259-2021-07-08` as the version.
I'm using GalliumOS which is a fork of Xubuntu but tweaked to work on ChromeOS laptops. This is on an old Acer Chromebook 14 that only has 2GB of memory on a good day and the problem does seem to be exacerbated when the memory space is low.
Xfce4 version is 4.12 according to `xfce4-about`.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! I'm relatively new to using Linux but willing to get my elbows dirty when needed.

Re: Xfce-Terminal not rendering output with compton as compositor

Hello and welcome to the forums!

Sadly, neither Xfwm4 nor Xfce terminal support blurred transparency. Try installing the stable version of Compton and see if it helps.

More information wouldn't hurt: version of xfce4-terminal, your GTK theme, content of ~/.config/xfce4/terminal/terminalrc and:

xfconf-query --channel xsettings --list --verbose
