I have tried numerous combinations and no keyboard shortcut will open a terminal. I am using
[xfce4-terminal] and numerous keyboard combinations. All other shortcuts I set work fine. I also tried just [terminal] with no luck. I also tried [xfce4-terminal.wrapper]

Good.
How? What command does your shortcut point to?

I reset all shortcuts to default, then went to an old backup and took a screenshot of the shortcuts, then converted the png to txt online and one by one copied them and pasted them back. I couldn't find a way to copy the shortcuts from session manager as copy and paste wouldn't work. But finally things are good. Why suddenly they all went belly up is still a mystery. A nice feature would be to have a save and restore function in keyboard shortcuts similar to Panel Preference has. Thank you

Glad you got it sorted.
Adding custom keyboard shortcuts is the worst part of a clean install for me, so yes, a backup/restore facility would be good.

Well now I did a screenshot and converted it to text so at least I can copy them one by one and reinstall
