upgrade from Xubuntu 20.04 to 22.04

why doesn't the updater show the new version of Xubuntu 22.04,
although
the Software & Updates :
Notify me of a new Ubuntu version = for long term support versions,
and the system was updated/upgraded today?

Ubuntu doesn't allow its users to upgrade to newer LTS releases from the get go. You need to wait until the first point release is out, i.e. 22.04.1, which is scheduled to August 2022, by the looks of it: https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/jammy-je … dule/23906
