Hi,
I've been setting up my new LL 6.0 distro, and it seems that I made a stupid mistake somewhere.
I don't get the "authenticate" popup anymore, therefore I can only open Synaptic with sudo in the terminal. I did a restore from live usb, it worked but authentication is still missing. Is it fixable?? Or better do a fresh install??
Thanks!

do you know what you were doing when the mistake happened?

if you have not done much customizing setup and have no personal/business data that has no backup (preferably two backups) then a fresh install is probably best. that would give you more practice doing these things, too. and you would have a cleaner system (fewer strange settings). that's why i always do fresh installs for version upgrades of my Xbuntu labtop.

Yes and no... As you know, setting up a new distro takes a lot of changes to make.
I remember installing Mintupdater, as a PPA from Bodhi Linux which I've never done before, and it did work surprisingly good. Or, did it?... And many other little things...
Thanks for replying.

Fresh install, you are probably right.
Thanks.

Problem solved.
Somehow I unchecked "PolicyKit Authentication Agent" in Application Autostart. After a reboot everything works fine.
