Hi guys,
I installed Asahi Linux on a Macbook Air M1, which is basically Archlinux Arm with Asahi's repo for M1-specific drivers / kernel.
After successfully booted with a minimum archlinux arm, I tried to install xfce:
sudo pacman -S xfce4 mousepad xorg-server xorg-xinit mesa xf86-video-fbdev
And when I ran
startxfce4
I got a blank screen with mouse cursor (which could be moved around), but no menu / panel / window, etc.
Can I ask how to fix it? Thanks a lot!

Hi, ArON.
I can't speak on this matter as I have no experience in setting up a desktop environment from scratch, but this looks like a dependency issue.

Arch & Xfce just had an issue with libx11, version 1.8.1-1 - there was a change to libx11 that broke xfce4-settings operation. Arch has since released libx11-1.8.1-2 to temporarily address the issue.
Temporary workarounds include downgrading libx11 or updating your system to use the newer version.

Thank you, this is the problem. I did an update and I got in with startxfce4 just fine now. Thank you so much!

Dear ArON,
just found your post here when I searched for Asahi Linux users. Just didn't find any other. I developed some Mandelbrot multi core benchmark for Linux and as I don't have any M1 device yet, is there any chance you could test my code on your MBA M1 ?
The link is here, download on the top right (http://www.mikusite.de/pages/linux.htm).
It contains like 6 versions of the benchmark, just takes like 10 seconds to run each. Hopefully works on the M1. Works fine on Linux on the Pi400 and other devices.
