What is xfce4-screenshooter?
============================

This application allows you to capture the entire screen, the active
window or a selected region. You can set the delay that elapses before
the screenshot is taken and the action that will be done with the
screenshot: save it to a PNG file, copy it to the clipboard, open it
using another application, or host it on imgur.com.

A plugin for the Xfce panel is also available.

Re: ANNOUNCE: xfce4-screenshooter 1.9.11 released

is it possible to run it silently (no output, no window) to capture based entirely on command line arguments to detail what to do, and save to a specific path?

i would like to make it be a keyboard shortcut (Print Screen/Sys Rq).

xfce4-screenshooter [-f|-w] -s /path/to/file.png

Re: ANNOUNCE: xfce4-screenshooter 1.9.11 released

I adapted the command of KBar to follow naming convention of xfce4-screenshooter and prepared it directly for pasting into "Keyboard shortcuts". Might need to tweak the path where the image is saved:

sh -c 'xfce4-screenshooter -w -s ~/Desktop/Screenshot_$(date +"%Y-%m-%d_%H-%M-%S")'

Also works with -r flag for region selection which is pretty cool.

Re: ANNOUNCE: xfce4-screenshooter 1.9.11 released

i name all my screen capture files like ~/.screenshots/%Y%m%d%H%M%S%f.png where %f is a 9 digit fraction (nanoseconds) to keep each capture and have them sorted by time.  i have a different program doing the actual capture and cannot remember why i chose that program.  this announcement made me think about it.  maybe i will re-evaluate that decision.
