Terminal apps don't open in default terminal

I changed my default terminal to kitty, but some terminal applications like htop and ranger keep opening in xfce4-terminal when I open them using a launcher. The workaround I have been using is to edit the Exec property in their .desktop file to use kitty -e "application name" but I'm wondering if there is a more elegant fix. Does anyone knows how to fix this?

Re: Terminal apps don't open in default terminal

Did you set it in Preferred Applications?
