Setting default archive type in Thunar

 Thunar->right click->Create Archive

brings a window with lots of archive types (bottom left pulldown menu).

Is it possible to set "zip" as the default?.

Thanks

Re: Setting default archive type in Thunar

Xarchiver does have its own preferences dialog where you can set this.
You need to open Xarchiver directly to get to it, instead of 'indirectly' through thunar.
Once set, then through thunar.

Re: Setting default archive type in Thunar

The Thunar Archive Plugin uses an installed archiver to do the work. This is system-dependent. What archiver are you using? In other words, which archiver program comes up when you "Create Archive"?

Then you can look to see if that archiver offers an option to set a default extension. As per @CwF's post, xarchiver gives you that option. engrampa, on the other hand, does not. It will depend on which archiver you are using.

Re: Setting default archive type in Thunar

Thanks. My system uses xarchiver so @CwF's reply solved the issue.
