weird screen scaling suddenly enabled, which can not be undone

Hello,

now for the second time in the past few months some weird zooming function got enabled without me wanting it. It is unclear what unintentional mouse and/or keyboard action I have done to get into this bad situation.

The entire screen is now like five to ten percent larger. The whole thing moves around and follows the mouse pointer as it gets closer to the edges of the monitor.

Just like last time I looked for hints in the XFCE settings, and nothing obvious stands out which would explain this situation.

Does anyone know what "scaling" features exists in XFCE or GTK or X11 or the i915 driver that would explain this situation?

Thank you in advance.

Ok, the bad situation was caused by "Alt" + "mouse wheel". Triggered by xfwm4 because "zoom_desktop" is "true" by default. Not sure why that default is a good idea. I turned it off now.

I use it every day. Excellent accessibility feature! It is a pretty intentional action. I think it is a X11 feature,
