[SOLVED] Thunar: Any way to change order of "Open With" applications?

Somehow in my .mp3 file right-click "Open With" popup Audacity has become the first choice, which I have to be careful to not choose as it takes a minute or so to open and most times is not what I want. Is it possible to rearrange the menu so that Audacious or VLC show up first, and Audacity last? Thanks.

Depending on the version of thunar you are working with, you might see something different. But for slightly older versions, when you right-click on the file, you should see two options at the top of the menu:
- open with the default application
- and "Open With..." submenu that lists other potential applications that you can open the file with.

If you want to change the default application, the one listed at the top of the context menu, go to the "Open With..." menu and select "Open with another application". At the bottom of the dialog there is an option to "Use as default..." Select this option, select the application you want to use and click "Open".

The order of the items at the top of the "Open With..." submenu is alphabetic.

Newer versions of thunar have an option to set the default directly in the Open With submenu.

I see, the menu is alphabetic.
I can change the default through "Open With Other Application" and select "Use as default for this kind of file", just wondered whether it was possible to change the menu order. Thanks.
