Hi! The window buttons in xfce4-panel stopped blinking when a window asks for attention, e.g. a message received from a chat application. It used to blink during a few seconds, and then it would stay in a highlighted state (close to the active state). It doesn't do that anymore. I tried a few things in the window manager settings/tweaks, of course the accessibility option to make urgent window blink, but found nothing to fix it.
I've been having this issue since upgrading from Debian 11 to 12 (so Xfce 4.16 from 4.18), on every computer I upgraded. I have not modified my config files since before the upgrade.
Any idea what's going on?
For completeness: I don't think the apps are the issue, adding the _NET_WM_STATE_DEMANDS_ATTENTION flag to a window state with wmctrl does not make the button blink.

Hello,
Not sure it works in the panel, but maybe the option you're looking for is "Notify of urgency by making window's decoration blink".

I already tried it several times and double checked in xfce4-settings-editor which flags it toggles (it's /general/urgent_blink in the xfwm4 channel). That's what I meant by "the accessibility option", sorry I did not have the English label as my system has a different locale.

Turns out the issue is due to my GTK theme, Orchis. Going back to Adwaita and urgent window buttons blink again, so I'll move there to open a report.

The "suggested-action" CSS class must be rendered correctly. Unfortunately, Greybird also has this problem.
EDIT: just opened and issue for Greybird: https://github.com/shimmerproject/Greybird/issues/339
