NixOS XFCE Forced Packages

Unable to exclude certain packages from a NixOS config, namely mousepad, parole, xfce4-terminal.
These are forced in the XFCE package.

For reference, the Plasma package allows exclusions: https://nixos.wiki/wiki/KDE
xfce was mentioned here too: https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/issues/32405

Meanwhile I reached out to a maintainer (bobby285271 on github) with this issue,
but if anyone here is familiar with Nix, I would like to know of any input specific to updating xfce.nix
