Possible to exclude specific applications from grouping in the taskbar

? I normally want the behaviour where programs group in the taskbar.

However, for specific programs (Vivaldi, VirtualBox, etc.), this is a massive annoyance as I constantly have to click an extra time to first bring up the "list" of instances, and then click on the one I want to go to, as opposed to just directly clicking once on its dedicated "bar".

"Alt-Tabing" only works in certain situations. It's hard to explain.

If I turn grouping off entirely, I soon go mad from all the things created and disappearing in the taskbar. This was the same exact problem I had when I was using Windows. There, too, it was only possible to either group everything or not group anything.

Since there is no GUI setting to accomplish this (that I can find), is there at least some sort of config file where I can put a list of those programs which I want Xfce's taskbar to not group? That would be wonderful and save so much time and energy.

Unfortunately no. But you can gain some space by unchecking the "Show button labels" and just display icons.

But then it will still create and disappear lots of Xfce4-terminal icons down there all the time as my "main loop" PHP CLI script launches new sub-scripts and they finish. sad
