Autostart when the desktop is up and running

I'd like to start a software when the Xfce desktop is up and running, since that software requires an an active X session.
Is xfce4-session-settings the right place for that?
Or would $HOME/.config/autostart/symlink_to_the_software_starter be a better solution?

Re: Autostart when the desktop is up and running

Create an entry at Settings Manager > Session and Startup > Application startup. It will create a .desktop entry in ~/.config/autostart.
