Sound xfce4-notifyd

Are there any plans to add sound to xfce4-notifyd at some point?

Re: Sound xfce4-notifyd

Yes!. They were added in version 0.7.0, but are a compile-time option - meaning the package that you are using must be compiled to enable them.

Ahh, that's great.
How can I compile this option retrospectively?

Re: Sound xfce4-notifyd

Which distro are you using?

Basically, you would run "configure" or "autogen.sh" and add the "--enable-sound" parameter. Be careful of conflicts if you keep the older version installed.

Re: Sound xfce4-notifyd

I use Arch Linux.
I used "configure --enable-sound", but there is no sound option!?

Re: Sound xfce4-notifyd

The sound is initiated by an app or command - xfce4-notifyd will now play it if one is sent. Make sure that "mute sounds" isn't enabled in settings.

For more info, have a read through this arch thread where I explain how it works.
