xfce4-docklike-plugin does this (at least on X11, not sure if that will possible on Wayland…)

on Xubuntu 23.10 it returns error:
"checking for X... no
configure: error: X Window system libraries and header files are required"
So on Wayland it doesn't work

No, it isn't ported to Wayland yet.
This should be in the next release.
