Parole won't play .mov sent from Apple i-phone

I get videos from my sister.  Debian 11 played them fine using Parole, but since upgrade to Debian 12:

"Parole needs meta/x-gst-fourcc-mebx"
"Unable to install missing codecs"
"No available plugin installer was found"

... The Debian forum advises me that this is an xfce4 issue so I'm reporting it here.  Can I back-grade Parole to something that works?

Maybe a gstreamer issue?

Sure looks that way.  Puzzling how things like that just sit there unfixed for nine months.  If I ran the universe developers would fix blatant little mistakes like that before moving on to the Next Big Thing.

I'll not call it 'Solved' but it's at least tracked down.  Tx. ToZ.  Meanwhile there's other players.
